Deputy President Paul Mashatile will this morning host a meeting for Government of National Unity (GNU) partners at Tuynhuis in Cape Town where, among others, the Basic Education Laws Amendment (BELA) Act will be discussed. The meeting, titled the Clearing House Mechanism, is a platform for the 10 signatories of the GNU to iron out policy disagreements and any disputes.
The BELA Act, a contentious Act signed into law last month, is legislation that the DA has been firmly against.
Other issues that will be discussed include the terms of reference for the Clearing House Mechanism, an update on the preparations for the National Dialogue, and a discussion on challenges at provincial and local government levels about coalition governments.
