The sentencing of serial rapist Nkosinathi Phakathi will be delivered at the High Court in Johannesburg sitting in the Palm Ridge Magistrates Court this morning. Phakathi has been found guilty of 90 counts of rape, four counts of compelled rape, three counts of causing a child to witness a sexual act, 43 counts of kidnapping, two counts of assault, as well as four counts of theft..
He committed the offenses in and around Ekurhuleni from 2012 until 2021.
Most of his victims were school-going children, the youngest being nine years old. One of his victims, who was 14 years old at the time, spoke to SABC News about her eight-year wait for justice.
She says, “I think justice for me, would be for life. Because it was not just me. There are many other women that he harmed which shows that he is a very dangerous person. So, he does not deserve to be around. So he must just go serve for life.”
