Thabo Bester, a convicted rapist and murderer, represented by his new lawyer Adv. Lerato Moela informed the court of his intention to file an application regarding unfair restrictions at Kgosi Mampuru Correctional Centre. This morning, Bester and nine other accused individuals appeared in the Free State High Court.
The lawyers complained that it is difficult to consult with their client and that he is being treated as if he is already guilty. Moela argued that the case would be affected or delayed if Bester was not mentally stable. He said that Bester’s treatment at the prison is affecting him mentally. The matter has been postponed to next Wednesday to also give two other accused individuals a chance to apply for legal aid.
