The City of Cape Town’s Water and Sanitation Department has completed maintenance work on the water infrastructure on the Cape Flats. Thousands of residents were affected when the water supply to large parts of the Cape Flats was shut down for three days.
Mayoral Committee Member for Water and Sanitation, Zahid Badroodien, stated that the City was able to complete additional work on the water infrastructure during the three-day period.
“At the beginning of this week, the city initiated a proactive maintenance operation scheduled to last 72 hours, involving the replacement of five valves. I am pleased to report that six valves have been successfully replaced, exceeding our initial goal. We have upheld our commitment to completing the work within 72 hours. Several communities have already confirmed that their water supply has been restored.”
