A businessman and his bodyguard have been shot and wounded at Mogaung in the Sekhukhune district in Limpopo. Police spokesperson Malesela Ledwaba says gunmen in another car sprayed the businessman’s vehicle with bullets. According to the police, the attackers fled when the businessman’s bodyguard returned fire.
Ledwaba stated that two counts of attempted murder have been opened. He said, “The businessman was shot in the arm, and his bodyguard fired back at the suspects, who then fled without taking anything. The injured victims were taken to the hospital for medical attention.”
In a separate incident, a five-year-old boy has been wounded after being hit by a stray bullet while asleep in Musina, Limpopo. Police say the stray bullet penetrated through the roof and hit the boy who had fallen asleep in the sitting room while watching TV. Police spokesperson Malesela Ledwaba says they’re investigating a case of attempted murder.
“According to preliminary investigations, the bullet is believed to have been fired from an unknown location. The child fell asleep while watching TV, and his elder brother discovered he was shot when he went to fetch him. He then woke up their grandmother, and the child was immediately rushed to the hospital where he is currently receiving medical treatment,” explains Ledwaba.
