Five individuals detained in connection with the murders of rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and his companion Telbelo “Tibz” Motsoane have been refused bail in the Durban Magistrate’s Court.
The accused are Lindukuhle Mkhwanazi, Lindani Ndimande, Siyanda Myeza, Mziwethemba Gwabeni, and Lindokuhle Ndimande.
Forbes and Motsoane were killed outside a popular restaurant in Durban in February of last year.
Four of the accused, except the alleged mastermind, Gwabeni, have pending cases.
Handing down judgment, Magistrate Vincent Hlatshwayo said it is in the interest of justice not to grant bail to the accused, saying evidence before the court indicates that they have a case to answer.
“Applicants were instrumental in the killing or commission of this crime, which is the killing of the sick. The information suggests that Applicant 3 is prone to committing a number of major crimes. There is a case for the petitioners to respond to in the circumstances that are before this court. The magistrate adds, “This court has determined that granting the petitioners bail would be dangerous and irresponsible.
