The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (HAWKS) has arrested two suspects in connection with the killing of a police officer in Springs, Ekurhuleni. Captain Wynand du Toit, who was stationed at Springs SAPS, was shot and killed on Sunday during a robbery at a supermarket in Geduld, Springs.
Nthuthuzelo Mana and Thirty-Benjamin Ntuli appeared before the Springs Magistrate’s Court today for the murder of Captain du Toit.
HAWKS spokesperson Thatohatsi Mavimbela says the matter has been postponed until next week, Thursday, for further investigation.
“Captain du Toit was shot and killed on Sunday, February 16 during a robbery at a supermarket in Geduld, Springs. The pair made their first appearance at the Springs Magistrate’s Court. Mana, who is currently in hospital appeared in absentia. The matter has been postponed to Thursday 27 for further investigations.”
