The Ministry of Sport, Arts and Culture Gayton McKenzie and the Bid Steering Committee have extended the submission deadline for the Request for Expression of Interest for South Africa’s Formula 1 Grand Prix bid to the 18th of March this year.
This extension aims to give stakeholders additional time to submit comprehensive proposals in line with Request for Expression of Interest requirements.
The Bid Steering Committee will develop a comprehensive bid document, which the South African Cabinet must endorse. The bid document will then be submitted to the Formula One Group for consideration.
Minister McKenzie highlights the importance of the bid. “Hosting a Formula 1 Grand Prix would boost our economy, tourism, and development while showcasing South Africa as a premier global sporting destination.”
