A 58-year-old police officer has been gunned down in front of his home at KwaMaBefu Location outside Qonce in the Eastern Cape. The officer was attached to the Stock Theft and Endangered Species unit.
No one has been arrested.
Police spokesperson Siphokazi Mawisa stated, “The Provincial Commissioner, Nomthetheleli Mene, has described the attack on our police member as an assault on the authority of the State, which will not be tolerated. She encourages community members to provide information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and colleagues of the victim, and may his soul rest in peace.”
