The eighth edition of a naval training exercise, involving ships from India, Brazil, and South Africa, continues today in False Bay, Cape Town.
Drills including replenishment at sea and anti-piracy have been carried out in recent days.
Today’s drills will include approach maneuvers and boarding operations.
Captain Dieter Jones of the warship SAS Amatola says the drills aim to strengthen relations between the countries.
“We did a whole series of drills, approach maneuvers by the ships, replenishment at sea drills, sailor evolutions, and then we moved on to air defense drills, whereas a force we were attacked by the South African Air Force (SAAF). “We were also doing sea warfare drills, which included surfer warfare between ships engaging each other with long-range missiles, and then the main aim of the exercise is to integrate special forces.”
