A group of 95 Libyan nationals were arrested at a camp that looked like a military training base in Masoyi near the White River in Mpumalanga. They are scheduled to appear in court on Monday. The individuals were apprehended on July 26 at a camp that was initially intended for security training, following a police and Home Affairs officials raid.
The foreign nationals are facing charges for violating the National Immigration Act. The Department of Home Affairs stated that they obtained visas under false pretenses in Tunisia. Their visas have been revoked.
Meanwhile, Police Minister Senzo Mchunu has indicated that the government wants the Libyan nationals to be deported as soon as possible.
