The fact that the Congress (ANC) and IEC Chairperson Mosotho Moepya collaborated to attempt to deregister the party in 2019 suggests that there may be a strong argument.
This comes after Advocate Winston Erasmus, a former ANC researcher in the Western Cape legislature, filed a formal complaint with the Electoral Court.
Erasmus claims in the case that Moepya and a few officials of the ruling party conspired to have the ATM deregistered before the 2019 national elections.
“We were of the view that there was a hand which was working in a manner which was not consistent with how things should be done,” explains Zama Ntshona, national spokeswoman for ATMs. However, to arrive at this point and locate someone who affirms, “I was there and I wasn’t alone.”
